What does a WOF check?
A Warrant of Fitness (WOF) is a regular safety inspection required by NZTA for light vehicles weighing under 3.5 tonnes. Our inspection covers tyres and tread depth, brakes, steering and suspension, lights, seatbelts and airbags, windscreen and wipers, doors, exhaust system, and structural rust. We also check dashboard warning lights and applicable driver-assistance systems, such as automatic emergency braking, where fitted.
What Happens When You Bring Your Car to US?
At West Point Motors, the process is simple. Book your WOF inspection and drop your vehicle off at our West Coast Road workshop. We confirm the inspection price before starting. Once completed, we explain the results, including what passed, what needs attention, and what may require attention soon. If your vehicle fails, we provide a written quote and contact you for approval before carrying out any repairs. Most repairs can be completed on the same day.
Why Is Keeping Your WOF Current Important From November 2026?
From 1 November 2026, WOF requirements are changing, with many newer vehicles moving to a two-year inspection cycle. While this can reduce inspection costs, regular vehicle maintenance remains important. Tyres, brakes and other safety components can wear between inspections. The fine for driving with a WOF more than two months overdue is also increasing from $200 to $350. Keeping your WOF up to date helps ensure your vehicle remains safe and roadworthy.
Which Vehicles Do We WOF?
West Point Motors provides WOF inspections for cars, SUVs, utes, vans and light commercial vehicles across West Auckland. We regularly inspect Japanese vehicles, including Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Subaru and Suzuki, as well as imported vehicles. As hybrid vehicle specialists, we also inspect popular models such as the Toyota Prius and Aqua. Motorcycle WOF inspections are available too. We welcome customers from Glen Eden, Henderson, New Lynn, Titirangi, Avondale and Massey.

What Happens If My Car Fails Its WOF in Auckland?

Can I Get My WOF Repairs and Re-check Done on the Same Day?

What Are the Most Common Reasons Cars Fail a WOF?
Common reasons for WOF failures include faulty lights, worn tyres, brake issues, damaged wiper blades and dashboard warning lights.
